Bay Area Classical Performance

Summer Performance:

July 2025

About this event

Witness a showcase of Tchaikovsky’s most beautiful and enchanting music, including selections from the ballet music to Sleeping Beauty, the passionate Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy, and his famed violin concerto. The program culminates in the rousing 1812 Overture.

The concert will be played by the Bay Area’s own San Francisco Symphony, conducted by Stephanie Childress and featuring soloist Blake Pouliot. Childress was born in London to a non-musician family, starting her classical music career as a violinist, making her solo debut with the Proms in 2019 at the age of 20. She graduated from the University of Cambridge with a bachelor’s in music and is the Principal Guest Conductor of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Catalonia. Pouliot, born in Toronto, started learning violin and piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music at age 7. He has a degree in violin performance from the Colburn School Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. His debut album was nominated for the 2019 "Best Classical Album Solo/Chamber Ensemble” Juno Award.

The performance will be at the Frost Amphitheater at Stanford University.
